  Back in the game

The weekend worked out pretty well for me. On Friday night, I didn't go out (I was still trying to recover from the previous two nights), but, Saturday was another story. I had an old college friend in town for the night and she called me up to join her and a few of her friend's downtown. I called up my wingman for the night and we headed down there. We met up with the four girls at a restaurant/bar. We arrived too late for dinner, so it was straight to beer. It was a fun time, but a little hard to talk to everyone. Unfortunately, one of the girls didn't have her ID with her that night, so we were stuck there for the night. As it turned out, however, the girls got tired around 11:30 and decided to call it a night. So, my buddy and I decided to wander around and see what we could find.

As we're walking down the street, we pass a club that I've been to multiple times. Walking by, I noticed that the bouncer looked really familiar. I tried to place him, and then realized that he was someone that I knew from back home. Eager to find out if I was right, I made my way back over to him. I introduced myself and inquired as to whether or not he was who I thought he was. Sure enough, I had positively ID'd him. I talked to him for about 10 minutes or so and then asked how the club was that night. Without batting an eye, he let us in, no cover, no waiting.

Once we were inside, I began to realize that it was a good thing we didn't pay to get in. There certainly were plenty of attractive girls inside, but none of them were receptive to us (or anyone else for that matter). I guess most of these people just go there to be seen instead of trying to be productive with their nights. Whatever, their loss.

Having given the night our best shot, we decided it was time to head home. Walking back to the car, my friend decided that he needed to grab a slice of pizza. We found a pizza by the slice place that was still open and made our way over. As we were about to enter the restaurant, a group of four attractive girls walked up. Three of them waited outside, while the fourth went inside for some pizza. I stood inside long enough to realize that a) it was too damn hot and crowded inside and b) there were three attractive girls standing outside who were going to be there for at least a few minutes. Not wanting to miss out on a perfect opportunity, I bolted for the door.

I don't remember quite what I said to get the ball rolling, but let's just say the girls were nothing short of receptive once I started talking to them. Turns out they were from LA and in town for the weekend. I'd been talking to them for about 10 minutes before my friend returned. As he came out the door and realized what was going on, the pizza nearly dropped as fast as his jaw. The girls turned out to be really nice, so we chatted them up for the better part of an hour. By then, the two of us were sober enough to drive home, so we decided to call it a night. As we were leaving, one of the girls stopped us to get my number, claiming that they wanted to have lunch with us on their way out of town the following day. Never one to turn down an attractive girl, I willingly obliged.

The next day, I received a call in the early afternoon from the girl who got my number the night before. She said that they were running late and wouldn't have time for lunch, but they did want to thank us for the great night and that we should be sure to call any time we're up in LA. Hmm, roadtrip?
